PRIMARY PURPOSE/FUNCTION: 

Plan, coordinate, and support implementation of thematic curriculum and classroom instruction as outlined in the magnet project. 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Education/Certification: 

Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred 

 

Special Knowledge/Skills 

Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) with employees, colleagues, service providers, and community members 

Knowledge and skills in current curriculum and instructional best practices 

 

Experience: 

Minimum of five (5) years as a certified teacher using a variety of educational technologies (preferred) 

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: 

 

  1. Demonstrate relentless commitment to academic achievement of all students. 
  2. Demonstrate effective communication and engagement strategies to all district patrons. 
  3. Foster collegiality and team building among staff; encourage their active involvement in the decision-making process. 
  4. Communicate and promote expectations for high-level performance from staff; hold staff and students accountable for high performance; recognize excellence and achievement. 
  5. Articulate a clear direction for all students and staff; articulate a positive image of the school district and school district personnel. 
  6. Conduct ongoing assistance for planning and implementation for the use and integration of theme-based curriculum and instruction in the magnet program. 
  7. Coordinate workshops and training of teachers and other opportunities to implement the magnet project. 
  8. Assist in the coordination of district-wide projects and events that support the integration of the magnet theme into the curriculum. 
  9. Serve as a contact for vendors of instructional and theme-related products and services specified in the magnet project. 
  10. Work with each administrator for ongoing improvement of the school improvement plan . 
  11. Maintain a program of regular visitation to all classrooms to monitor the implementation of the magnet curriculum and instructional practices. 
  12. Coach teachers to effectively implement the magnet curriculum with effective instructional outcomes. 
  13. Model effective magnet lessons for teachers and students. 
  14. Provide support to school staff and work with the Magnet Director in the planning, developing and implementing of the magnet program. 
  15. Develop and facilitate an advisory/planning committee of key stakeholders, including parents, students, faculty, school administration, medical facility representatives, post- secondary education representatives, and other community and partnership representatives.
  16. Work with the advisory/planning committee and Magnet Programs staff to develop promotional materials, plan events, develop business/community partnerships, conduct outreach and recruitment, and monitor enrollment and other relevant data. 
  17. Monitor magnet student engagement and academic performance; facilitate appropriate intervention services as needed. 
  18. Evaluate and monitor faculty and staff professional development needs related to the magnet program(s); coordinate professional development opportunities as needed. 
  19. Attend professional conferences to gather and share current information about effective magnet school programming. 
  20. Work with the Magnet Program staff to coordinate regular meetings with school staff to participate in a professional support network among school-based staff with similar responsibilities and interests. 
  21. Assist the Magnet Programs coordinator in the collection of required data and documentation, and provide feedback to the evaluation of design, instrument development, data collection procedures, preparation of required reports and other relevant issues. 
  22. Serve as the magnet liaison between the school and the Magnet Programs. 
  23. Serve as the magnet program point of contact for internal and external stakeholders. 
  24. Coordinate building –level related magnet activities for staff and students (e.g., summer program, speaker series, job shadowing opportunities, field experiences, externships for staff, professional development, and monthly advisory/planning meetings). 
  25. Assume fiscal planning and maintenance of the school magnet program budget. 
  26. Perform other duties as assigned.
