The Sports Medicine Teacher provides students with the basic concepts and skill set for sports medicine and other related health careers. It introduces students to topics such as Foundations of Health Care, Principles of Sports Medicine, Injury Assessment, and Exercise Science. Teaches application skills through co-curricular activities and school to work transition experiences. Sponsors the Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) Club. Performs other work as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology Or Exercise Physiology/Science

  1. Valid Arkansas Teaching Certificate, Sports Medicine ( 625)
  2. Must hold a current Arkansas Educator’s License with 9-12 Science area or be eligible to receive an Arkansas Educators (9-12) Science endorsement. 
  3. If not licensed, must possess a Bachelor’s degree (minimum) and be willing to pursue Arkansas educator Licensure. 
  4. Must pass a background check of the Arkansas Child Maltreatment Central Registry. 
  5. Must demonstrate written and verbal communication skills.

 

OR

Licensed Athletic Trainer, Physical Therapist, ot Physical Therapy Assistant with 

2 years work experience + Associates Degree or higher OR 4-year work experience absent of a college degree
